Analysis of Methanol in Ethylene, Propylene and Butadiene

APPLICATION # 110

The Analysis

This GC is used to analyze 1.00 ppm (v/v) of methanol in ethylene, propylene, or butadiene concentrate matrix or mixtures of these matrices.

How It Works

A liquid compressed sample is gasified at a constant rate through a small gasifier mounted directly onto the GC. A valve loads the sample into the loop at the moment of injection. The sample passes to a pre-column in order to partially separate methanol from the matrix. Subsequently, by use of a valve, the portion of the sample containing the methanol is passed to a second column. In this column, the methanol is separated from the small amounts of matrix which entered the second column. The remainder of the sample in the pre-column is discarded to vent.

Total analysis time is approximately 15 minutes.
