High
temperature simulated distillation of crude samples does not yield a
complete and accurate boiling point distribution. The reason is that the
front-end distribution is distorted by the quenching effect of the
carbon disulfide (CS2)
which co-elutes with the light components present in the crude sample.
For many years, users of SimDis Expert have overcome this problem by
using a built-in tool that merges the distillation data generated by
detailed hydrocarbon analysis with the data generated by simulated
distillation. The result obtained by merging the two distillation curves
is a boiling point distribution that better resembles the TBP.
This
merging tool is now available as a free stand alone application called
Merge Expert.
